Prenatal Yoga

What are Prenatal Yoga classes?

Prenatal Yoga classes are designed for you to relax and stay fit with safe pregnancy yoga postures, breathing awareness, relaxation and active birth preparation.

Why should I practice yoga during my pregnancy?

Having a baby is one of the most profound physical and emotional experiences of your life. Prenatal Yoga can offer a supportive way for you to connect with your body and your baby by providing a gentle and effective exercise.

Prenatal Yoga has a calming effect on the mother, which is passed on to the baby. It also prepares you for an active birth and brings awareness of breath, which is an invaluable tool during labour and beyond.

Prenatal Yoga helps build muscular strength and flexibility, develop balance and coordination, boost circulation and promote relaxation and emotional well-being.

With different programs for each trimester, you will discover a powerful way to connect to the beauty and the changes induced by your pregnancy.

During pregnancy, your energy levels vary daily and your body may feel weak or unfamiliar at times. Prenatal Yoga classes will gently guide you to achieve graceful and strengthening positions which, combined with relaxation techniques, will provide you with the tools to bring confidence and comfort to your daily life.

Prenatal Yoga can also alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as constipation, oedema, back pain and sciatica.

Who can practice Prenatal Yoga?

All pregnant women, whether you are just starting out yoga practice or have experience as a true yogini.

How are classes organised?

Since you are unique, your body and your pregnancy are also unique.

Serene Pregnancy offers group classes and can also guide you through private classes specifically designed for your journey into motherhood.

Serene Pregnancy yoga classes are conducted in a 4 or 8-week program designed for each trimester. Using bolsters, blocks, birth balls and straps, Prenatal Yoga classes offer a variety of exercises, ranging from a dynamic practice to a gentler style of yoga with breathing awareness and relaxation techniques. Each private class is tailored to your individual needs.

One class lasts 75 minutes.

Note: If you want to practice yoga with your pregnant friends at your place, please let me know and we can organise classes of up to 3 women preferably in the same trimester.

When should I start Prenatal Yoga classes?

Prenatal Yoga classes are beneficial wherever you are on your pregnancy journey. The classes are most beneficial if you take them at least once a week.
